CITI 2019 @ Concordia Theological Seminary

The Church Interpreter Training Institute (CITI) instructs American Sign Language (ASL) interpreters, church members and professional church workers in church interpreting and Deaf ministry. Our goal is to train our students to better serve Deaf people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to equip them for continued growth in faith and leadership in the Christian Church.

Hong Kong Lutheran School for the Deaf and Concordia School for Special Education @ Hong Kong and Macau

Students from Hong Kong Lutheran School for the Deaf visit St. Paul Lutheran Church

LFD will travel to Hong Kong and Macau to visit the Hong Kong Lutheran School for the Deaf and to support Concordia School for Special Education (formerly St. Paul Lutheran School for the Deaf) for their graduation ceremony. LFD will also visit a Deaf Center as well as meet with Deaf Lutherans. Additionally, this trip will be used to set up the fall mission trip when Deaconess Diana Rice, who is Deaf, will teach classes at the schools about serving Deaf students and teaching them God’s Word in the Bible.

Ethiopia Eyeglass Team @ Ethiopia, multiple locations

Lutheran Friends of the Deaf will travel to Ethiopia to distribute eyeglasses to those in need and share the Gospel message. We will be visiting two deaf schools serving students from ages 7-22 years old as well. We are collecting eyeglasses, which can be sent to Lutheran Friends of the Deaf, 40 Frost Mill Road, Mill Neck, NY, 11765.
